LOCAL: I added a couple of paintings to the gallery page. I rewrote a capability statement for brevity. I deleted two extraneous copies of research published online.
I will fly sometime this week, just to capture the dogwood foliage with the verdure. I am going to be doing some unusual camera work next week out of town for a few days.
NEWS: I have been watching our economy implode. BRICS be like, thanks, orange bro. If you’re rich, though, hang in there. Must be tough, lol!
DRONE: HB 1907 relies on an average person’s spatial awareness and access to shotguns to allow people to shoot down drones if the feel they can tell the difference between a drone flying overhead at 185 feet or at 225 feet. The DADA drone bill. It could be called the Dagnabbit Bill or something. Consarned Frickerfrackin Thingamajig Bill.
Beginning to get my usual visits from internet-based scams. When someone approaches me with a job and dangles a ridiculous amount of money available for a budget, provides no credentials, I step on. I just get tired of it.
SCIENCE: This was my thesis. (PDF) Medical Unmanned Aerial System for Organ Transplant Delivery. This came from market research. The topic evolved from conversations I had with a scientist, a coroner’s accountant, and a professor about finding a way to stop people from dying while they wait for a viable organ transplant operation. A noble pursuit in learning.

ART: I went back into an oil painting I had drying for two weeks, worked on contrast using shadows, and now I wait for at least six weeks to varnish and seal it. In total I worked on the painting for about 10 hours.

I started a twilight landscape. It requires very precise use of gradients and placement of high-contrast tiny uniform points of lights, deft use of warm and cold shadows.
I laid down the basics, waited for paint to cure, washed the image in sodium or halogen streetlights, then reapplied contours of silhouetted houses and shops, finally add the faint light cones, apply points of light and clean-up. That was the plan.
The eye is very unforgiving and must be satisfied. I am working heavily from a photograph to please onlookers as my work progresses.
