LOCAL: I flew in Harrisburg, but the weather turned windy about an hour into my first day and stayed like that. Will fly this week, weather has turned, more or less. Been hitting rail trails with my fam on bikes because cheap. Tried out a new chest mount for the GoPro. Crickets from the county re: any drone work. Saw that the borough went with another pilot for their Facebook page. No deals on canvas, no deals anywhere.

DRONE NEWS: How it’s going: Cambria County, PA ramps up its medical supply delivery efforts with drone services. Cambria County to test drone delivery of emergency medical supplies – Pittsburgh Union Progress They used a “Local Shared Account” to angle for $250K a few months ago and urged other counties to apply for grants, too.
How it started: Cambria County to apply for grant to improve county’s drone network. Like that. In other counties with plans and money, Medical drone trials set for summer in Pa. community. Aerium, Drone814, ATA doing their thing.
Virginia-based ATA Aviation, which is in the process of opening a three-employee office in Richland Township, is working with Richland Township-based aviation nonprofit Aerium, the Cambria County Department of Emergency Services and the Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission on the project.
ATA Aviation is implementing the operational “software” framework for the multi-modal mobility project.
After the Cambria drone consortium runs tests in the summer, they will have measurable data to compare air ambulance to a ground service. The analysis will inform efforts or lack-of-efforts of other, more disengaged counties like Fayette. They used a grant to get it done.
