LOCAL: Zero local work. Half of the year is gone. Visited Picklesburgh with an ‘h’. Heinz boosted industrial food products at the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. Since then, we’ve been swimming in pickles and ketchup. The company sold out to Kraft a decade ago. Kraft lobbies well in D.C. btw. Organizers expected 150,000 people, but 168,000 showed up on Saturday. No misting centers. Hot! So crowded that we did not have the chance to try any pickle products. My kid was melting. The lines were so long we had to leave the festival for food and water. It was well into the 90s, very humid, and the people were packed together like…salty pickles in a jar.
DRONE: No one reads these blog posts. Drone shows are fairly old hat. Drone swarms are unaffordable. Industrial drones are unaffordable for an operator. No one is offering free drone classes to high school kids this year. What happened to the domestic commercial operator? I cannot afford to build a drone, either.

I flew briefly at a local construction site to get a good image of a couple of spots on a retaining wall for putting up a mural. Going to use a waterproof sticky paint because the mural will occasionally be underwater during flood stage. That is a plan, maybe not the final plan.

Russia hit Kiev with crazy barrages of drones, so Ukraine attacked Russia. Ukraine attacks strategic locations, Russia attacks civilians. Drones are associated with death and terror.
“Massively scalable drone autonomy is the single most important defense technology of this decade,” said Yaroslav Azhnyuk, Founder and CEO of The Fourth Law.

SCIENCE: I have no idea what my “readership” understands about science. I studied mechatronics and drone tech, then fell into a local abyss where my skills mean nothing.
I am interested in nanotechnology, aeronautics, and material tests. I am interested in astronomy, are you?
Paper satellites are coming. How paper planes could provide sustainable solutions to space debris
Abiogenesis on Titan. Looking forward to Dragonfly’s mission.
ART: I am producing oil paintings as usual. I am developing a 10″ x 20″ mash-up of bridge images, and three 12″ square landscapes: A swamp, a something, and something else.
Arts Council meets tonight to see how collaborative projects in town are coming along. I sketched the Dunlap’s Creek Bridge from different angles in oil. The painting is going up in the house. Other local teams of artists have either scouted locations in and around Brownsville, or have already begun work on installations of one kind or another. I need to collaborate.
