LOCAL: I wished I felt local anywhere. No drone jobs, no commissions, no collabs, no sales, no action.

Dip both arms in these restorative waters, and whatnot

DRONE: I flew the DJI Avata 2 in Perryopolis, PA at the Layton Bridge project. I marveled at the trees. Flying one of these gesture-control drones is a lot of fun and easy to do with little practice. The old truss bridge in the following video is being demolished once the new bridge next to it is completed and opened. The tunnel and bridge is currently single lane, so traffic can get goofy. This bridge is tunnel adjacent, and the short tunnel, I have read, is home to endangered bats. I have never been there at twilight to verify that.

Zero wind.

SCIENCE: Not sure what the hold-up is, but there should be a lot more projects happening to improve our infrastructure against global warming and acceleration of the frequency of disastrous weather events. We have maybe twenty years left of fossil fuels before cannibalism and unchecked radioactive fallout mutate all of us. Or we could surmount these challenges and preserve a future for generations to come. It is election day. It is comically depressing to depend on Ugly Hollywood for meaningful change.

AI is not sentience. People are, as a species, violent and unpredictable. Our AI is a reflection of our animus. No aliens could survive interstellar travel, but machines could. Imagine meeting a machine that eats you for fuel. We are alone in our solar system mutilating our home planet so that a few rich people feel anything, even if it is base avarice and greed.

Art: I worked on my art studio, and by ‘studio’, I mean a space for a small desk and chair in a cluttered garage. I have a free-standing easel somewhere, lost, but I need a better set-up for carrying supplies if I want to paint outside and have a natural light series. I want to put those up in the studio for reference. I improved lighting, and I put up wall sheathing for a row of shelves I can install this weekend. I will eventually paint the walls to brighten the garage further. I have a plan for securing the fallen rolls of insulation back up into the rafters. I have piled in the corner in the garage, meanwhile, about 350 feet of insulation to place altogether back up in the rafters. That sucks. I need to go get some clothes from the thrift store to sacrifice for fiberglass. I always feel empty after a nice piece is finished, and there’s no need to drive nanofibers of glass into the vacuous pit of sorrow where I used to lightheartedly feel a sense of purpose.
